Tennessee
BibliographyTennessee philatelic literature is scarce:Tennessee Post Offices and Postmaster Appointments 1789-1984 by D. Frazer is a massive work, unfortunately replete with many errors. You can access my online guide of Tennessee Post Offices here. MarketOnly a decade ago there were virtually no collectors of Tennessee covers. This has changed. Tennessee now is fairly avidly collected. Some parts of the state seem to have more interest, especially the Memphis area. There seems to be some demand for most parts of the state. 19th century covers are more sought then 20th century, but most all will find buyers. Other than the cities and larger town, material is hard to come by. Among the 50 states, the
District of Columbia, R.P.O.'s and Streetcars, Tennessee
rates as the 14th state in terms of percentage of covers
sold at 61.84%. It ranks 33rd in terms of the value of
covers sold as percentage of all town cancels sold at
0.98%. The overall rank is 21st. This is a ten year
running average. The most recent trends are decreasing. |
