Perfins
There are two types of perfins. Government applied perfins like OS and OHMS are much like an overprint and considered part of the franking. Commercial applied perfins are much like a corner card and described there. These should only be noted if they can be matched to the corner card.
Victoria 1d QV Perfin OS 1903 Melbourne, 1 Board of Public Health Postcard to Maryborough.
Government applied perfins are described as part of the franking. Note capital Perfin. You will know when a perfin is of this type when you see a note on the slip in the franking section.
4c Taft Fourth Bureau 1931 Hud. Term Annex N.Y. Double weight Local use. All Over Reverse Illustrated Advertising and stamp perfin Pennsylvania Railroad showing route map.
Commercial perfins are described as part of the corner card or advertising. Note that the wording reads and stamp perfin, all small letters, after the notation of the type of advertising or corner card. Do not use the letters in the perfin. Please just allow the company name to suffice. You will know when a perfin is of this type when you see a note on the slip in the beyond postal history section.
Unless very specifically noted, commercial perfins without any company name corner card or advertising are not described.
